The first day of the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, is next week. Churches in China have been busy preparing for the holiday. The two articles below from China Christian Daily tell of three churches that prepared and distributed free New Year couplets to bless their congregations and proclaim God’s love.

Three brothers in Christ who are good at calligraphy wrote Christian couplets for Spring Festival at Apostles’ Church, Suzhou, Jiangsu, on January 16, 2022.

Two Jiangsu Churches Distribute Christian Couplets for Spring Festival

Two Jiangsu churches in Suzhou City hosted the writing and sending out of free gospel couplets.

In the square of Dushu Lake Church on January 16, besides distributing more than 100 pairs of Christian couplets, two brothers in Christ wrote and presented to believers over 200 individual copies of the Chinese character “fu,” which means blessing.

The same event was conducted in the main building of Apostles’ Church on that day, attended by teachers and members of the church’s calligraphy class. They have given away 300 pairs of Spring Festival couplets and 50 pieces of red paper on which the character “fu” (blessings) was written.

Fujian Megachurch Distributes Free Christian Couplets for Spring Festival

A Fujian megachurch announced the distribution of free Christian couplets for Spring Festival which will serve to proclaim God’s love to the world.

On January 3, Quannan Church in Quanzhou, Fujian released a notice saying that believers could reserve gospel couplets on its official WeChat account by entering their personal information and the number of couplets wanted and then and collect them after the Sunday service on January 23.

The notice also stated that some Christians gifted in calligraphy were willing to write the couplets for free through which the glory of God would be shown.

It also reminded its members that the quantity was limited, therefore the couplets were to be available on a first come first serve basis.

Founded in 1866, the church was rebuilt in 2004, with a floor area covering 1300 square meters (0.32 acre) and a construction area of 5650 square meters (1.4 acres). With more than 6,000 churchgoers, it has four ordained pastors, two elders, and seven pastors.
