Happy Chinese New Year!
A warm and happy Chinese New Year on behalf of the ChinaSource team! We are trusting the Lord with you that God will bless the church in China in abundant, even unimaginable ways, in the year ahead.
ChinaSource 2023 Annual Report Is Ready
The ChinaSource 2023 Annual Report is now available and can be found on our website here. This year’s report is entitled: “Staying Connected in China’s New Era: The Church in China and the Global Church Serving Together.”
If you are new to the ministry of ChinaSource, we hope you will check it out to learn more about the growing ministry our Heavenly Father is opening to us. If you have been with us for a while, thank you for your friendship, prayers, and support! We trust you will be encouraged as you read how God is blessing ChinaSource and is moving his kingdom forward through this ministry.
In the article by Brent Fulton and Joann Pittman on pages 2-3, you will read about how ChinaSource is a content resource ministry, global partnership hub, and a Great Commission partner, working together to help the church in China and the global church learn and grow together, resulting in the advance of God’s kingdom.
If you haven’t yet met our new content manager, Andrea Lee, check out pages 3-5 to learn all about Andrea and “Content Highlights—Empowering Minds, Bridging Hearts.” On page 8, “Where to from Here?” reveals what we understand God’s calling to be for ChinaSource in 2024.
We’re looking forward to learning and serving with you in 2024!

Ways to Pray
- Praise the Lord for the influence and impact of Robert Ekvall who served the Lord in Tibet “with an adventurous spirit to push further and cross common borders.” Please see “Robert Ekvall: Living on the Edge, A Book Review of Brave Son of Tibet.”
- Praise God for prayerful, thoughtful Chinese Christ followers who are keen to walk out their faith “through a biblical lens,” under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in seeking how to address “traditional Chinese festivals that sculpt our earthly identity.” For a deep dive on this topic, check out “Chinese Christians and the Chinese Zodiac: Idolatry or a Cultural Artifact?”
- In her recent blog post, “Can Others Tell?” Barbara Kindschi encouraged us to read, re-read, and pray through the ChinaSource articles listed below. Please join us in praying through these posts this month:
- “Back In China” by Erik Burklin
- “The Church in China” by Erik Burklin
- “Taking Our Pain to the Cross” by Laura Yang
- “Securitization of Everything” by Peter Bryant

In-Person Lecture
“Human Flourishing in Chinese Thought: A Christian Response” by I’Ching Thomas
We are excited to announce that I’Ching Thomas will be the speaker for our spring 2024 joint lecture series. She will explore the notion of human flourishing in Chinese thought, focusing especially on Confucius’ teaching on self-cultivation and benevolence as keys to achieving the ideal of the Noble Man. Then, drawing on parallels with the Christian faith, she will propose that the gospel is relevant to the aspirations of cultural Chinese concerning human flourishing as defined by Confucian ideals.
Save the date! The lecture will be held in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area in early April. Be sure you are a subscriber so that you will get updates as soon as details are finalized.
This event will be free and in-person—we would love to see you! In addition to hearing I’Ching Thomas, you’ll be able to meet and talk with ChinaSource team members Joann Pittman, Andrea Lee, and Peter Arneson.
