Praying for the Unreached in China

Gone are the days when the Great Commission went from the West to the rest; today it is going from everywhere to everywhere. As we are finishing up the second decade of the 21st century, this process is accelerating.

In my previous ChinaSource blog, I pointed out how the Chinese-speaking world is taking the lead with the Global Prayer Digest (GPD), a prayer guide for the remaining unreached people groups. There are now 10 times more Chinese- than English-speaking intercessors, and that disparity might actually be even greater.[1]

In the course of the 32 years I have worked with this prayer tool, I have witnessed this increasing participation on the part of the Chinese church. Today, Chinese believers select the content when our prayer guide covers the People’s Republic of China. Each July we feature northeast Asia, which usually focuses on the Chinese world.

Last year and again for this July, Esther Fan and her team with Mission Pathway have provided the daily entries. For next year, the IMB has selected the people groups that will be included.

We are always looking for good sources for accurate prayer information. I'd like to invite those of you who focus on the unreached of the Chinese world to contribute information on the groups you are familiar with. Please contact me at keith.carey@frontierventures.org

In July of this year, we hope to see even more intercessors filling the bowls of incense for unreached people groups in China. (Revelation 5:8)

Apps

You can get free Chinese- or English-language apps at the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store (iOS) by searching for “Global Prayer Digest” for the English version or “宣教日引” for the Chinese version.

Daily Emails

You can also get daily emails of the English prayer entries by going to the GPD website and adding your email address to the upper right corner where it says, “subscribe to our daily email.” For Chinese language materials, Mission Pathway also offers a daily email option.

Notes

  1. ^ In addition to the prayer guide being available in English and Chinese (simplified script and traditional), it is also available in Korean. There might be a Portuguese version soon.
