I am grateful to the Lord for the privilege of serving with the ChinaSource staff, board, and extensive network of volunteers. Throughout this season of transitions and new wineskins, it is a daily joy to follow Jesus and his calling for ChinaSource together.
We are thankful that on March 22, Eunice Choi joined the ChinaSource team as our new Senior Administrator. In this edition of The Lantern, it is our joy to introduce Eunice to you! Thank you for your prayers for Eunice and all of us at ChinaSource as we seek to walk Christ’s kingdom path together.

Introducing Eunice Choi
Christ found me when I was 11 years old and growing up in Hong Kong. When I immigrated to New York in my early teens, my relationship with God strengthened as I attended a Chinese church there. After I was married, I returned to Hong Kong with my husband to begin a new life. Having returned almost as a stranger to the area, I found the heart-felt welcome of God’s family at a local church and my involvement gradually expanded into many areas. Serving become a natural extension of my faith, as my life has been continuously renewed by God. My contributions pale in comparison to the fruits I have harvested.
My first job in a Christian organization came after a 10-year hiatus away from the workforce. I had worked in the computer programming and support field in New York and Hong Kong. After my two daughters were born, I stepped back to be a full-time homemaker. When they grew into teenagers, I was offered a bookkeeping and administrative position at an organization I had been volunteering with. Out of all the jobs I have held in the past, this new working experience brought me the most satisfaction because of its mission to live out the Great Commission. My favorite part was working with the staff, all of whom shared the same belief and purpose. It was my great joy and inspiration to witness how their lives changed by God’s provision and miracles of evangelism, and how that changed other people’s lives as well.
At the beginning of this year, my family migrated back to the States. My husband and I settled in California. My husband received a call to serve in a ministry here and yet, I did not know what God had planned for me. His will started to be revealed when my husband found an advertisement for an administrative position in the ChinaSource newsletter. I was touched by ChinaSource’s mission and love for Chinese people and churches, so I decided to apply. I did not expect to be chosen, yet by the grace of God, I was hired.
After more than a month of being part of the ChinaSource team, I have found my work satisfying and invigorating. I am genuinely grateful for the warmth and trust my colleagues have for me. I have many things to learn, but they give me great assistance and I feel cared for. I look forward to making more memories with ChinaSource and bringing its vision to life.
And now a little something about me personally. I have been married to my husband for 30 years, and we have two lovely, adult daughters. We are a close-knit family; we especially enjoy conversation and laughter during meals. We love traveling and, right now, exploring our new neighborhood every weekend. My newfound hobby is gardening, and it still amazes me that I am caring for orange, lemon, apple, and peach trees right in my own backyard!
Ways to Pray
- We are thankful that Eunice Choi, our new Senior Administrator, is well into her second month with ChinaSource. Her onboarding experience has gone very well. Please continue to lift up Eunice and her family.
- Give thanks for the partners and volunteers who serve with ChinaSource, including our cosponsors for the ongoing lecture series, “Christian Theology in a Chinese Idiom,” US-China Catholic Association and China Academic Consortium.
- Praise the Lord with us that God is using ChinaSource to help bring about reconciliation and unity in his church.
- The Lord has blessed ChinaSource with a robust volunteer network. Pray for God’s blessing and favor on those serving inside and outside the mainland.
- Pray for those involved in preparing for the online lecture (details below) on June 10 and for a good turnout of those who will benefit from hearing and interacting about the material presented.
- The ChinaSource team is in the midst of a strategic planning process which will culminate with board and staff meetings June 21-23. Pray we will hear and follow the voice of the Good Shepherd throughout this process.

Christian Theology in a Chinese Idiom: A Webinar on Reshaping the Conversation
The Christian theological conversation spans two millennia. Recently, however, more and more scholars have begun to recognize that the theological agenda is culturally induced, which makes the cross-cultural diffusion of Christian faith a necessity.
In this webinar, Dr. Jesse Ciccotti will investigate theologizing in Chinese contexts by first discussing theology as an activity in which Christian thought is expressed in ways that are natural to a cultural native. He will then highlight key Chinese cultural material in Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism and illustrate these with examples. He will close with a discussion of the relevance of cross-cultural theological creativity, as well as highlight its risks.
