6 Questions about Mentoring in the Chinese Context

The topic of this month’s ChinaSource Conversations podcast is "Mentoring in the Chinese Context."  The host, Mark Swallow, begins by noting the shifting landscape of leadership development in China:

During the past several years, there has been a perceptible shift in the approach of many organizations working within the Church in China. The shift is from emphasizing the training of large numbers in a relatively short period of time to realizing that the needs of these leaders go much deeper, and that long-term mentoring with a relatively few is ultimately going to prove most beneficial for the Chinese Chruch.

Mark talks with three individuals (Brent, Henry, and Rod) who have extensive experience with leadership development and mentoring in China, raising the following six questions:

  1. How did your journey into mentoring begin?
  2. What venues have you found helpful for mentoring?
  3. How does one mentor well? Is it reproducible?
  4. What are some of the barriers faced in mentoring?
  5. How can the church be helped in dedicating resources, time, and value to mentoring?

If you’re at all interested in or involved with mentoring Chinese believers, either in China or your home country, this podcast is for you. Go here to listen to the whole discussion.
