[…] 在过去的18个月里，无论是在中国的还是被困在外面的国际学生们，他们所面临的最大挑战是情感、社会和心理层面的。隔离所带来的孤立，不公的行动限制所带来的挫折感，无聊感，网上教 育（还有对一些人来说的网上教会）所带来的困倦感。人际关系变得冷淡，让很多学生感到非常孤独。两年来，一些学生与他们的配偶或孩子一直处在分开的状态，撕裂了人类最宝贵的关系。当他们的家乡深受大流行病的影响时，他们却远离家乡，这也使他们对自己的故土和人民变得更加陌生。 但是，尽管如此，有证据表明，基督徒学生在这几年不安稳的岁月里在信仰上得到了成长。一位埃塞俄比亚学生分享说：”大流行病和生活使我经受到了挑战，而怀疑自己的信仰。但是感谢神，这对我来说是一个巨大的成长机会。它帮助我使我的价值观更加清晰，并使我能公开显明我的信仰”。学生们做见证说，他们更深刻地体会感受到上帝的主权和祂对其子民的个人关怀，认识到这个世界的破碎程度，以及 “没有任何国家或个人比上帝更伟大”。其他人描述了他们分享信仰的新机会。 在推特 (Twitter) 上简单搜索一下话题 #带我们回中国 (#TakeUsBackToChina)，4 就可以看到被困在中国境外的留学生们令人沮丧的挫折感。 他们报告说有心理上的痛苦，网上教育条件行不通，返回中国的时间遥遥无期。5 那么，未来会怎么样呢？ 预测 有三股力量相互作用，影响着中国的国际学生留学政策：政治稳定性、经济增长力和全球影响力。COVID-19新冠病毒病的风险绝对不允许扰乱到冬奥会的举行，也绝不允许扰乱到2022年下半年的11月的国家领导层变动。6 同样，中国令人羡慕的经济复原力和增长力也因其封闭国界而得享保护。与这些力量相对抗的，但又不足以压倒它们的，是增长中国软实力的长期战略。法伦 (Fallon) 和史密斯 (Smith) 的文章很有见地的抓住了中国公共外交受到威胁的复杂性。7 因此，中国可能要等经历完三次完整的“老一届毕业/新一届未达”的循环周期后，到2023年9月入学时，才会有大量的来华留学的国际学生。 2020 * 2月，超过一半的国际学生离开中国。 * 6月，毕业离校。 * 9月，没有新留学生到达。 2021 * 6月，毕业离校。 * 9月，没有新留学生到达。 2022 * 1月，冬季奥运会。 * 6月，毕业离校。 * 9月，没有新留学生到达。 * 11月，共产党权力交接。 2023 * 6月，毕业离校。 * 9月，自2019年9月起首次接收留学生。 然而，中国对留学教育的决心也享有着最高级别的外交政策支持，并有大量的经济投资作为支撑。8 正因为如此，尽管中国的形象暂时受到侵蚀，但国际学生将在2-5年内大量返回中国。 教会的反应 意识到了当下的实况和前方可能的道路，本地和全球教会又可以怎样反应呢？我们应该如何祷告呢？ 对于中国教会来说，由于中国幅员辽阔，基督教领袖之间缺乏联系，而且把ISM作为事工主题的也很罕见，因此很难概括这些教会目前对ISM事工的态度如何。但似乎2018年可能是本地ISM事工热情的一个高点。一位与本地事工网络合作、发展国际学生外展事工的外国人分享道：在经历了最初阶段的不感兴趣之后，人们突然看到了ISM事工的异象。 (“中国ISM事工咨询会”就是在这一时期进行的)。 当时有一个本地的ISM团队和少数的本地事工实习生。 教会的普通成员希望与国际学生交朋友，但他们往往依靠这个外国人来促成新的关系、去找国际学生并创造一个他们可以认识当地信徒的环境。虽然这位外国人试图鼓励这些信徒自己继续开展ISM事工，但没有任何领袖接受这个呼召，许多人继续指望这位外国人的领导和指导。缺乏本地的领导以及继续依赖外国人介绍国际学生来认识，这些都让人质疑该项事工能否自我进行可持续发展。 […]
