God is Red

Chinese Church Voices is a weekly column of the ChinaSource Blog providing translations of original writing by Christians in China. The views represented are entirely those of the original author; inclusion in Chinese Church Voices does not imply or equal an endorsement by ChinaSource.

In December Weibo user @基甸 posted a comment about the book God is Red and the author Liao Wu.

In January of 2012, I returned to Chengdu and enjoyed hot pot with Mr. Liao. He really admires the earlier Christians who were persecuted. He said that they had true faith. However, he doesn't like many of the Christians today. Mr. Liao visited many churches in Chengdu. May God bless him and choose him to serve Him. Chinese author Liao Yi-wu's new book "God is Red" was recently chosen by Christianity Today as their "Book of the Year." The editor of Christianity Today Magazine commented that the book is inspiring, funny, full of surprises, and an excellent literary work.

Two interesting things about this post: Liao Wu is in exile, and his book God is Red is banned in China.
