As part of the ChinaSource Institute, we have produced two online courses designed to help those involved in China ministry better understand the local context. Our first course was "Serving Well in China," which provides a framework with which to understand and process the complexities of China. The course is hosted on an outside platform called Udemy, and can be accessed here.
Our second course, also hosted at Udemy, is titled "The Church in China Today." This course offers a comprehensive overview of the church, and addresses common misconceptions about the state of the church. It can be accessed here.
This autumn we are launching another avenue to provide training content for those serving China and the Chinese—webinars. For those of you not up on the lingo, a webinar is a seminar/presentation that is delivered online. The benefit of a webinar over an online course is that it can be interactive, allowing those registered to interact with the presenter.
Our first webinar is scheduled for Thursday, September 5 at 7:30 PM, US Central Daylight Time. The webinar is entitled “What Is It Like to Be a Christian in China?” The presenter is Dr. Mary Li Ma, a Chinese research scholar at Calvin University and author of three books.
Here are the details as listed on the webinar page:
Being a Christian in today’s China is challenging in many ways. The difficulties are not just political but social, cultural, and material in nature as well. As the global church, the more we understand the context of Chinese Christians, the better we can support and effectively serve the church in China.
