Editor’s Note: This article is an excerpt from the ChinaSource Annual Report 2024 by Rev. Kerry Schottelkorb.
In 1974, the International Congress on World Evangelization met in Lausanne, Switzerland. The gathering produced the Lausanne Covenant, a declaration that is “intended to define the necessity, responsibilities, and goals of spreading the gospel.” Dr. Billy Graham, the chairman of the Lausanne Committee, said in his keynote address, “The whole church must be mobilized to take the whole gospel to the whole world. This is our calling.”
ChinaSource was formed in 1997, reflecting the spirit of the Lausanne Movement and in accordance with the Lausanne Covenant. Together with other global ministries, Dr. Brent Fulton and several colleagues founded ChinaSource with the goal that the global church would better understand the church in China and seek ways to serve Christ’s church together.
Decades later, our Lord has given ChinaSource an outsized imprint in the China ministry space, providing the vision, opportunity, and favor to learn and serve with the church in China and the diaspora. Even as the number of foreign Christian workers in the PRC has severely decreased, ChinaSource is redoubling its commitment to partner with the body of Christ in China, the diaspora, and global church, producing fruitful kingdom unity in Christ. ChinaSource pursues its mission in two ways.
Information and Analysis: As an information and resource ministry, we welcome a wide variety of Christian contributors, who provide helpful context and biblical analysis on issues influencing and impacting Chinese Christ followers.
Friendship and Partnership in Christ: We are also called to relational ministry, to proclamation and demonstration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to oneness in him. Substantive partnerships are formed, resulting in mutual kingdom ministry. This complementary model enhances collaborative participation in the Great Commission and expands God’s kingdom.
Genuine success is measured in transformed lives, fresh perspectives, informed decisions, and partnering efforts to the glory of God. I encourage you to explore further in this year’s annual report, found here.
