Happy New Year—2023!

As we end one year and are poised to begin a new one, it is tempting to dwell on the lingering negatives of the past year. The challenges that our brothers and sisters in China continue to face can be overwhelming if we focus only on those.

Rather, as we begin the new year, let us lift our eyes to the God of the nations and together worship him

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!

Psalm 57:9–11

And pray for one another as the apostle Paul prayed:

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9–11
